Murat Topuz is a professor of civil law.

He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 1999, completed his master’s degree in private law at the Institute of Social Sciences of the same university in 2003, and received his doctorate in 2010. After commencing his academic career as an assistant professor at the Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2000, Topuz spent a year conducting research as a visiting scholar at the University of Cologne Faculty of Law in Germany, supported by the TÜBİTAK scholarship program. He was appointed lecturer in 2014 and promoted to the position of professor in 2021. Currently, Prof. Topuz serves as a university professor at the Department of Civil Law at Marmara University Faculty of Law, he conducts lectures and seminars at numerous universities in undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs.

Prof. Dr. Topuz, who has authored nine books and more than thirty articles in the fields of law of obligations, civil law, property law, inheritance law, and consumer law. He has also conducted conferences, seminars, and training sessions at various universities, bar associations, non-governmental organizations, chambers of accountants, private institutions and companies, and banks in Türkiye. Serving as an expert witness in Istanbul courts since 2015, he possess a good command of the English and German languages in written form and has a beginner’s knowledge of Latin.
